Awesomely Retired – favourites I won’t part with!

Several times a year Stampin’ Up! retire or discontinue products from their range.  Some of these return as lovely specials on the clearance rack but most are never orderable again.  It always amuses me to see people chasing retired products on buy & sell sites only months after they were freely available.  There are some products that are worth more retired than during their time in the catalogue.  Traditionally, Stampin’ Up! holds its value very well – which {ALWAYS} makes it a good investment!

For the first time, Stampin’ Up! is giving us advance notice of what will be carrying over from the current Holiday catalogue and what will be retiring.  You can see the full list of retiring products here.

My top 6 Holiday catalogue must-haves

(the ones I’ll be sorry to see go):

Every so often I go through my collection and re-home things that don’t float my boat anymore.  Some products make it through first time around, but then gather dust and get added to the pile later on.

There are always some of my favourites that never make the list.  Sometimes they are sentimental, sometimes I just want to own them! There’s some ‘just in case’ keeping (just in case I want to make a card with that crazy theme) and the stamp sets where I love one particular stamp (but never use the others – we all have that, right?).

Today I’m sharing with you two cards I recently made that are classic examples of why I like to keep my some of my retired Stampin’ Up!…

  1. Punch art! Punches never go out of fashion!!!  This Spiderman punch art card uses quite a few punches that are now retired – punches that I kept, so I was pleased that I didn’thave to try to match alternatives to create the shapes.  You can find Natasha’s punch art tutorial here.  I also miss a larger text alphabet, so have kept the Perfect Print bigz dies.  And you never know when you’ll need a retired spider web embossing folder!

2. When someone asks you to make a card with very specific parameters.  This one had to be hot pink & bling for an amazing woman.  I love the Making Spirits Bright stamp set from last year’s Holiday catalogue and Painted Petals from the 2015 Occasions catalogue.  I’m holding on to both of those for some time to come!

So, the moral of today’s stamping story, is that if you think you’ll miss something from the current seasonal catalogue, make sure you order it now!  All products on the retiring list are available until 4th January 2016 or while stocks last.  I’m getting a big pile of black glimmer paper!!!

After this date there’s a whole new catalogue of wonder to fall in love with {and you will!!!}.  Kelly x
