Fishing for Fun…

One of my friends gives me the best inspiration to make cards. I think it’s because she doesn’t just ask for X card.  She asks for an “awesome X card”!

So, this is the “awesome fishing card” I made using the water gel effect.  Dawn Griffith has a great you tube video showing the technique.  The quick explanation is that you put hair gel in a zip lock bag and add it as a ‘water’ layer in your card.

By good luck, it also fits with this week’s Just Add Ink theme – all things masculine.  Although my card is for the mini-masculine fellow, I know quite a few big kids that would enjoy their own version!

My card ended up being a mix of old favourites & new ideas. The Cloudy Day embossing folder is now retired (sadly!) but new to the SU! family is the Festive Flower Builder Punch which I used to create the fish bodies.

The boy is a Silhouette cut I created from an online image.  I’m lucky to have my Cameo to help me with the little extras in my cards – but I would love SU! to bring out a die set with children’s silhouettes.  I think kids in silhouette look so cute.  The craft stash will never be extensive enough for all the ideas I have! 1. What a fun card Kelly! I’ve never even heard/ seen a gel card so I am quite fascinated. Love your idea of creating a fish pool. Adding something interactive is a perfect way to win approval from any little or big boys. Thanks for joining us at Just Add Ink this week.

  2. Great card Kelly! I’ve never seen that water/gel technique before. Looks awesome! Very effective. That cloud embossing folder really was a good one. Pity it is retired! Love the silhouette image. Perfect card for a little man! Thanks for playing along this week at Just Add Ink. Rochelle xo
