Watercolour Butterflies – JAI258 & FMS181

Me oh my!!! – how glorious is the colour combination for this week’s Just Add Ink Colour Challenge – Blackberry Bliss, Smoky Slate & Melon Mambo.  They make such a pretty trio.

And again I’ve matched up the JAI challenge with this week’s Freshly Made Sketch.

With such lovely colours, I decided to showcase them using watercolour paper.   Using my aquapainter and reinkers, I made a swirly whirly wash adding more colour until I had a vibrant mix of Blackberry Bliss, Melon Mambo & Smoky Slate.  Once it was dry, I cut butterflies from my pretty paper and matched them up with the gorgeous patterns of Painted Blooms DSP.

I love the marbled effect the three different ink colours give.

After making my challenge entry, I still had lots of space to cut more butterflies, so I also made this version with the sketch rotated.

I think I like the original better, but that’s one of the things I love the most about inspiration – you can make all sorts of cards!  Have a go at one or both challenges this week and share in the fun.  Kelly x
