Shake, Shake Shake – Christmas is only 4 weeks away!

Eeek – Christmas is a mere 4 weeks away!  Still time to get those Christmas cards made & delivered.  Delight your family & friends by sending ‘happy mail’ this festive season.

I’ve been meaning to make a shaker card using the new Tree Punch and oh-so-cute stars from the Confetti Stars Punch.  Shaker cards are actually really easy to make (punch, add window sheet, add dimensionals, add sparkles, adhere).

Hope you get some time at the craft table this weekend so you can send out some Merry Little Wishes.  Kelly x

I Love Lace Background Stamp

I’ve been coveting the “I Love Lace” Background stamp since it appeared in the new catalogue back in July..  I’ve seen lots of lovely cards made with it – it’s the epitome of girly!  I’ve opted for a simple card for it’s first run, but looking forward to something more elaborate in the future (it looks amazing embossed in gold!).  Kelly x

JAI 241 – Sketch Challenge {Flower Patch DSP}

I’m not a huge fan of orange hues… but I do love orange and purple together.  So, for this creation, I’ve teamed up Tangelo Twist & Blackberry Bliss with Strawberry Slush & Wild Wasabi to make a Flower Patch stamped DSP / patterned paper.  The stamps in Flower Patch are so cute and because of their size & diversity, they make great background stamps.

This is the sketch provided by the Just Add Ink team this week:

JAISketch241

And this is my card:

The measurements for the panels are 1-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ on a mat that measures 3-7/8″ x 5-5/8″ and then mounted onto a C6 card [with a top fold, which I’m totally in love with at the moment].  You could use custom made DSP like I did, ready-to-go DSP, a background stamp (like I Love Lace or Hardwood), embossed cardstock or a solid colour.  So many options for a very versatile sketch.  Kelly x

Terrific “Flower Patch” Texture – JAI240

The theme for Just Add Ink this week is “TEXTURE”.  I was a little daunted at first, but got there in the end!

I have gone for multiple layers of texture – starting with Perfect Polka Dots embossing (they don’t call them Textured Impressions Embossing Folders for nothing!!!), adding a Hexagon Hive Thinlit layer and finishing with a “Flower Patch” resting on a burlap banner.  I always have so much fun with the JAI challenges!  Kelly x

Feathers with a Sprinkle of Gold

There’s always choices in life where people fall in one group or the other – rose or lavender … scrunch or fold …  silver or gold …

image

I have always been a silver kind of girl.  But I’m finding myself LOVING gold of late.  I wanted to make a thank you card that was classic & elegant and without thinking, picked up the gold embossing powder.  I loved it so much, I made another version (still in gold) with ‘Happy Birthday’.

image

So, I’ve come to realise that maybe I’m both kinds of girl at the moment (don’t tell anyone but I actually quite like rose a-n-d lavender these days!!!).  Where do your allegiances lie?  Kelly x

Let the Celebrations Continue with a Bottle of Red

On Monday, I started the story of our family holiday, on which we celebrated Mum AND Dad’s 60th birthdays.  Dad’s card was inspired by his love of red wine & the convenient fact that much of the holiday was spent visiting local wineries.  The South West of WA is renowned for quality wines with Margaret River and surrounding suburbs having some of  the richest & most fertile soil for grape growing.  As part of their celebrations, Mum booked a limosine to take us on a very special wine tour.  Travelling in style, we visited Wills Domain, Vasse Virgin, House of Cards, Gabriel Chocolate, Woody Nook, Aravina & Swooping Magpie to sample the local wares.  It was a fabulous day out!

Anyway, back to Dad’s card ! The bottle was hand cut using the Envelope Punch Board to guide the corner rounding.  I stuck with a classic red, white & black colour scheme with some gold to bling it out.  After all, 60 is a pretty special milestone!

Happy Birthday Dad – you’ve been the best role model a girl could ever ask for!  Kelly x

Just Add Ink, Mojo Monday & Project Life

Today’s project was inspired by the colour combo at Just Add Ink #239:

JAI239

The sketch at Mojo Monday #371:

Mojo371Sketch

And the ever versatile Project Life cards, in this case the MDS version of the Happiness Is range. I love using the Project Life cards in the place of DSP/patterned paper. Because I used the digital version in this card, I was able to recolour the design I selected so that it fit with the colour combo (JAI challenge) – Lost Lagoon printed on Very Vanilla cardstock. And, because it’s digital, it means I can print & make as many of these as I need. So many reasons to love multi-media papercraft! Kelly x

Celebrations Aplenty – Kinda Eclectic Screen Card

I’m back – refreshed & revived after a week in a luxury holiday house with my family.  It was a very special holiday organised by my parents, which brought together Mum, Dad, my, my husband, our girls, my brother & his girlfriend.  What was the occasion?  Mum & Dad both turned 60 within days of each other.  They have a habit of running away for milestone birthdays.  40 was spent travelling around Australia, 50 was spent in England/Europe, so when 60 was approaching, I got a little cheeky and suggested that they take us for the ride this time.  I’m glad they did – it was a lovely week of eating, sight-seeing, ‘chilling out’ (as much as you can with two little ones in the mix), swimming & playing games.  We’re looking forward to planning another one – hope we dont have to wait until the ‘fossils’ are 70!!!

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!

Mum is my stamping partner in crime, so I knew I needed to make something amazing for her card.  One of the special activities of the holiday was a family photo shoot – we got tizzy-ed up with pretty hair (Becc Jansen) & makeup (Emily Casella) then had had Kate & Sheree from K & S Photography come to take photos of us all.  It’s been a long time since we had any family photos taken, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to update the current collection.  On that line of thinking – I thought a screen card would be a perfect tie-in for the ‘make-over’ theme.  And since I am in love with Kinda Eclectic at the moment – which luckily has a great summer, carefree vibe – the creativity just flowed from there.

Happy birthday to my very wonderful Mum, who means the world to me.  Kelly x
