Oh Christmas Tree! Pleasure to meet you!

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Much pleasure thou can’st give me;

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Much pleasure thou can’st give me;

How often has the Christmas tree

Afforded me the greatest glee!

O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

Much pleasure thou can’st give me.

I think the second verse of ‘Oh Christmas Tree’ pretty much sums up my love for the new Tree Punch & matching Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set.  Another fabulous addition to my SU! stash from the just released holiday catalogue (have you got your copy yet?).  Matching sets always make card making a breeze and this one is no exception.  I’m looking forward to experimenting with this card – I’ve got a shaker card in mind using the Tree Punch & new Confetti Stars Punch.  Oh Christmas tree – how I adore thee!  Kelly x

Just because – you’re my friend

“Just because” cards are my favourite.  No particular reason – just someone that you might be thinking of or would like to send some “pretty” to.  It’s always a nice change in the snail mail pile to receive something that fits into the ‘lovely’ category rather than the practical category.  For this card I used lots of my ‘favourites’ to make it extra special.

My favourite DSP: In every pack of DSP I have an instant favourite.  In Back to Black, it was the feathers.

My favourite technique: This week’s favourite is the “Baby Wipe Technique”.  Take a baby wipe, add drops of different coloured ink refills [I used all the 2014-16 in colours except Tangelo Twist] and use it as a stamp pad.  To get a little more bleed, I lightly sprayed my inky baby wipe with a water filled Stampin’ Spritzer.

My favourite stamps: I’m still in love with the feather from “A Happy Hooray” and “And Many More” is getting a steady workout at the moment.

My favourite colour collection: Blackberry Bliss & it’s In Colour friends are still my favs!

Actually, I love everything about this card!  Is there anyone you’d like to send a ‘just because’ card to this week?  I guarantee it would put a smile on anyone’s face and that’s a great way to finish the week.  Kelly x

One for the Men – Beer Bottle Gift Box

Last week I posted a link to a tutorial for a Mini Champagne Bottle Box made using the Envelope Punch Board.  I thought it wasn’t fair that the men missed out – so, good news!  The bottle box also fits a bottle of beer.  ‘Cheers!”  This is a great one for a friend’s birthday, colleague thank you, or even something special for Dad (Father’s Day is only 2 weeks away)!  I love giving gifts and I love it even more when they are beautifully packaged with a cute tag!  Kelly x

Transformers Birthday Card

Alexa was invited to her very first birthday party away from our social circle – a big milestone for our “little” girl who is getting so grown up!

Cam turns 4 this week and he invited some day care friends, including Alexa, to his ‘dress-up as a movie character’ birthday party.  Alexa has a fabulous Peppa Pig costume and although technically a stretch on the movie theme, Peppa came out to play!  The party was lovely – bouncy castle, face painting & a checkerboard Turbo cake that was a definite labour of love from the kitchen of someone very talented.  The day care Mums got a chance to meet & greet (rather than wave & dash, as is usually the case on drop off / pick up) and the kids had a (sugar enhanced) blast.

When I RSVP’d, I found out that Cam would be dressed as Optimus Prime from Transformers.  This gave me a great theme for the birthday card & present.  We found an awesome Transformers “lift the flap” t-shirt for a present and of course, I made a Transformers card to go with it.

The design: Punch art was too ambitious and I don’t have an Undefined Stamp Carving Kit (but if you do, see a great carved Transformer image by Melanie Hill here).   So I decided on a computer printed Transformers logo and “Happy Birthday” in Transformers font.  I often download new/interesting/quirky/relevant fonts to match my projects – is my favourite go-to website for all my font needs.

This is the final result – tying in Cam’s name (using the logo as the “A”) and keeping it suitably dark & mysterious.  Happy Birthday Cam, we loved sharing your special day with you & your family.  Kelly & Alexa x

Seahorses, Starfish & Baby Showers

It’s always lovely when someone trusts you with an important part of their party process.  And invites are very important – it’s the first impression your guests get of your special event.  A friend of mine is having a baby shower soon and asked me to create the invites.  Her inspiration was ocean themed with blues, greens and sandy neutrals.

This was the final product using Bermuda Bay, Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana & Sahara Sand.  The Striped Scallop Thinlits die gives it an amazing ‘ocean’ look, the sentiment is a custom made MDS creation and the sea creatures are all hand stamped & fussy cut [stamps from By the Tide & By The Seashore].  And at the very end, I couldn’t resist making matching envelopes!

As a memento for the nursery, I made her a 4×6 framed artwork using a similar design to her invites.  And of course, a matching 5″x3.5″ notecard & envelope.

My heart flutters when everything matching so beautifully!  I’m exited about another precious baby entering the world!  Oh sweet baby!  Kelly x

Masculine Mayhem!

On Thursday night, 5 lovely ladies joined me for a night of cardmaking.  The theme was cards that would be suitable for a male.  I often hear that masculine cards are the hardest to come up with, so hopefully these ideas help you out a little.  Although my designs were made with “Father’s Day” (and happy birthday) sentiments, most of the ladies chose other ones to put on their card fronts including “happy birthday”, “lucky you” & “from me to you”.  The variety in SU! is great!

If you like what you see, are in Bunbury and you’re interested in attending a card class like this one, contact me.  I can invite you to the next one or you can host your own (host your own & earn rewards).  Kelly x

Pinterest to the Rescue!

A little while ago I was on a mission to make cards suitable for a teenager.  Not having much experience with cards for teenagers, I did what any self respecting craft addict would do – I jumped on Pinterest and got some inspiration.  This card is a CASE (copy) of an iPod card by the endlessly talented Dawn Olchefske.  You can see the original here.  I saw, I loved, I copied.  That’s a motto we should all share!  Kelly x

Simply Scalloped

With so many awesome products in the SU! range this year, there’s lots more sharing to come.  This card highlights another fabulous new product from the annual catalogue.  The Striped Scallop Thinlit die cuts a ‘fish scales’ pattern – leaving you with a scalloped cut out and lots of cute little scale shapes.  The die is sized to fit an American card front, which with a few modifications, can look great as a background on an Australian C6 card too.  Use the cut out, the scales or both together (as I have here).  Nothing else required for a visually stunning card (except a sneaky sentiment!).  Kelly x
